Girls Street Hockey Season has started!

The 2024 Summer season has started, we had a beautiful sunny day for Game 1! Special thank you to our volunteer coaches Mike Pace, Kennie Swanson, and Mat Burke for leading pre-game practice!

Announcement: This season, we will have two dedicated Girls hockey leagues including both street and roller hockey! Interested girls can play in both leagues. We'll keep separate schedule, stats, and photos for each league.

Girls Season starts Thursday June 6!

Hey folks, the Girls league is set to start Thursday June 6th!

Given the big interest this year, we are splitting into two timeslots to accomodate everyone. Let me know if there's an error or change you want to make!

• Street Hockey: Earlier Timeslot - Time: 5:45PM-6:45PM (June), 6:15-7:15PM (July - Sep)
• Roller Hockey: Later Timeslot - 7:00PM-8:00PM (June), 7:30-8:30PM (July -Sep)

Inline Skates / Roller Blade Recommendations

As we are looking to also add inline skating this year, we do have ~7 loaner skates (first come, first serve). For those new to inline skating, below are some recommendations below.

Youth Size Inline Skates

For kids, I recommend getting adjustable size skates, and all the recommendations below have adjustable size options. Inline hockey skates are lace-based, more durable/protective than recreational skates, but have less style/color options and no brake, but some do have the ability to heat mold to your foot for a better fit. Recreational skates tend to be buckle based, have a less protective boot, have a rubber brake and a variety of styles/colors. Skates below are in no particular order of preference, but brands I'd recommend are Bauer, CCM, Tour, K2, and Rollerblade.

Live Band @ Backyard Hockey!

For the first time ever, we're excited to announce Cam and the Hat Tricks will be playing live on August 10th during the Girls, Kids, and Adult Games! Don't miss out on this awesome game with live band to rally the teams live!

New Game Start Times starting July 6th!

To better accomodate families commuting for the Girls league after work and to play at cooler temperatures for the summer heat, we are adjusting all game start times as follows starting July 6, 2023:

New Start Times

• Girls League: 6:30PM - 7:25PM
• Kids League: 7:30PM - 8:50PM
• Adult League: 9PM - 10:15PM

Inaugural Girls Hockey League Game!

The Girls Hockey League kicked off their first ever game with Coach Chris Frank building fun mini-games including Treasure Chest and Sharks and Minnows and a 20-minute game at the end!

We are super-excited that Chris Frank has volunteered to lead the Girls hockey league. Chris has experience in the BCHL-NCAA-NHL-AHL-ECHL and coached everything from Seattle Junior 14U A1 to 4 year olds for Hockey 1 - Learn to Play! Chris is amazing with kids and we are incredibly lucky to have him!
